Your vitamin B12 level of 215 pg/mL is at the lower end of the normal range (typically 200-900 pg/mL), which may contribute to symptoms like fatigue, weakness, or neurological issues if borderline deficiency is present. Combined with your severely low vitamin D at 8.2 ng/mL (normal >30 ng/mL; severe deficiency
Next Steps
Initiate vitamin D correction with a higher dose: 60,000 IU weekly for 8 weeks, followed by maintenance of 60,000 IU monthly, retest levels in 2-3 months. For B12, start with oral supplementation (1,000 mcg daily, sublingual for better absorption) or consider B12 injections if symptoms like tingling or anemia are present; recheck B12 in 4-6 weeks. If you have related symptoms (e.g., fatigue, hair loss), provide more details for a full evaluation, including possible tests for folate, thyroid, or malabsorption.
Health Tips
Increase dietary sources: For vitamin D, include fatty fish (salmon), egg yolks, fortified dairy/milk alternatives, and get 10-15 minutes of midday sun exposure (with sunscreen after). For B12, focus on animal products like meat, eggs, dairy, or fortified cereals/plants if vegetarian/vegan. Take vitamin D with a fatty meal for optimal absorption, and B12 on an empty stomach. Monitor for improvements in energy and mood, and avoid self-medicating long-term without guidance. For personalized advice based on your full health history, please consult with me online to refine this plan.
