You can consult an orthopaedic surgeon who did fellowship in sports medicine they can rule out correct diagnosis.
If there is fracture there should be minimum bed rest for 6 - 8 weeks by severity of injury.
Do not do any active movement, (re-injury also could lead to chronic problem), brace may be useful for this type of injury to heal. Apply ice pack for 10 to 15 mins in 4 sessions to get relief from pain.
