Tibial stress fracture
I have been recently diagnosed with tibial stress fracture after i fell accidentally from the bike and subsequently played football and volleyball without knowing about the fracture. I consulted with the doctor and he advice me to take rest for 4 weeks. I have attached the x ray for your reference. My question is whether casting or any crutches is to be used to heal quickly as i dont feel pain while walking. Or i should follow the dr advice. I am asking this question as i read that for tibial stress fracture aggressive treatment is required otherwise it lead to non union. Your advice will be beneficial for me. Thank you.

Hello, You should take active rest which means you should not walk/run/jump/play any sports for 4-6 weeks. If you have developed a stress fracture in the front side (anterior) of your tibia (shin bone) then there is a very little chance for non union. But you don't need to worry about it. You don't need cast or crutches. Continue your normal daily activities.
Next Steps
After 6 weeks you should take an MRI (not Xray) to ensure the level healing.
Health Tips
Start walking then progress to walk jog for 2-5 km gradually every 2 weeks.
