Sharp Pain while passing stool.

2026-04-23 14:34:50
For over a month I was having very sharp cutting pain while I tried passing the stool. And sometimes very rarely I used to see very little blood with the stool. But the pain only used to happen at the start once I passed the first stool after that it didn't hurt. After that for the past 4-5 days I have loose motion and now it doesn't hurt because my stool is loose. But after I have loose motion the area outside my anus I have noticed that it is swollen. And it hurts when I try moving my anus, like any movement I make in anus it hurts a very little.

Since swelling is now present, it’s better to evaluate properly and prevent it from becoming chronic. I’d recommend book a consultation so I can guide you with the exact treatment and medicines.

"The 'sharp cutting pain' during the passage of hard stool, followed by relief when stools are loose, is a hallmark sign of an Anal Fissure (a small tear in the lining of the anus). The recent swelling you've noticed after a bout of loose motions could be a 'Sentinel Pile' (a skin tag that forms at the base of a chronic fissure) or localized inflammation due to the irritation caused by frequent bowel movements
Next Steps
Sitz Bath: This is the most effective immediate remedy. Sit in a tub of warm water for 10–15 minutes, 3 times a day. It helps relax the anal sphincter muscle and promotes healing. Fiber and Stool Softeners: Even if you have loose motions now, you must ensure that your stools remain soft (not watery and not hard) in the future. High-fiber diet and Isabgol (Psyllium husk) are highly recommended
