Hello dear If the pain lingers on after the sweet or cold for minutes certainly there is a chance that the decay is deep but if it's only for a few seconds than a good chance that u can just get a filling done. pain and sensitivity are two different things...if u have pain in tooth....u should visit dentist ..have x ray and then if require go for further treatment... sensitivity to cold and sweets without cavity may be due to hypersensitivity or minor starting of cavity..
