Hi. Conventionally, wisdom teeth erupt or attempt to erupt in different directions when there is less space in the jaws to accommodate them. This happens with a considerable proportion of the population. They might or might not cause pain and end up with other complications like infections or inflammation as in your case. They can be left unattended if they cause no such symptoms. But in this case, painkillers can only give a temporary relief and you may end up perceiving the pain again randomly. So a permanent solution, will be this open-tooth extraction- when the tooth is not visible or accessible, the surrounding bone is reduced or the gums may be surgically removed in relation to the tooth to enable the removal of the offending tooth. This procedure involves local anesthesia and is perfectly ok to be performed in your case. So please don't worry. Stitches will be placed as required - can you be decided only after the surgeon begins to operate on the tooth. Please follow the post extraction instructions the dentist gives as they facilitate faster and safer healing of the extraction site.
