Given the history of cold weather and clear urine in large volumes without reported symptoms of pain or fever, cold-induced diuresis and primary polydipsia are likely considerations. However, diabetes insipidus should be considered and ruled out by appropriate investigations like serum and urine osmolality, sodium levels, and possibly a water deprivation test.
Next Steps
need more detail history for appropriate evaluation.or can consult me over practo or whatsapp for more detail explanation.
Health Tips
avoid giving too much of water for drinking.

It seems normal. Try to restrict water intake for a day, to see if frequency decreases or not. If there is no decrease in frequency, consult online.

Yes, cold weather can make children pee more often. If there’s no pain, burning, fever, or excessive thirst, it’s likely normal. Consult a paediatrician if you notice these signs.

Hello, I am Dr. Romain Rajan, General Physician. Your case has been allotted to me. I understand your concern. Passing urine 8 to 9 times a day with clear color, especially in winter, is often normal in children. Cooler weather reduces sweating, so the body excretes more water through urine. It can also happen when the child drinks more fluids or milk during the day. ✅ Advices Keep a watch on overall water and fluid intake — avoid forcing extra water if the child isn’t thirsty. Ensure the child stays warm and avoids cold exposure, especially at night. Observe if urine frequency reduces slightly when the weather warms up or when fluid intake decreases. What to Monitor Any increase in thirst, fatigue, or sudden weight loss. Any burning sensation, fever, or foul smell in urine. Management No medication is needed at this stage. You can continue a normal diet and hydration. When to Consult a Doctor Immediately If urination frequency increases further or persists for more than a few days. If child becomes excessively thirsty or tired. If urine changes color, develops odor, or child complains of pain while passing urine. Every child’s situation is unique. For accurate assessment, it’s important to discuss hydration, feeding habits, and any other symptoms in detail. 👉 You can reach out to me directly for this case, and also connect with me in future for any medical consultation. I am available on Practo or on WhatsApp at 85271646 seven seven for a one-on-one consultation, where you’ll receive: A personalized treatment plan Safe medicine adjustments (if required) Quick follow-ups to track your child’s recovery Take care, wishing your child good health. Best regards, Dr. Romain Rajan General Physician

It is very difficult to measure the volume of urine in a 5 year old child. You may get the urine examination done and consult a General Physician for further management. Any fever or abdominal pain ?

8-9 times urination for 5-year-old with large clear urine volume suggests increased fluid intake or diabetes insipidus/mellitus. Cold weather can increase urination frequency. If no other symptoms, likely normal. However, rule out diabetes with blood sugar and urine tests.
Next Steps
Get fasting blood sugar test Urine routine and culture Monitor fluid intake Check for excessive thirst Pediatrician consultation if persists
Health Tips
Clear urine is good sign of hydration. If child is playful, eating well, no weight loss, likely normal. Watch for excessive thirst or bedwetting. Diabetes needs early detection.

Hello, I’m Dr. Pradeep Dahiya. What you’ve described — clear urine, slightly increased frequency, and cold weather — is usually not a cause for concern if your child is active, feeding well, and has no signs of fever, pain, or dehydration. During cooler weather, children often pass more urine because sweating is less and the body conserves less fluid. However, to be sure there’s nothing metabolic (like early sugar imbalance or urinary issue), it’s best we review the child’s hydration pattern and diet in detail. You can book a quick online consult — I’ll assess everything and guide you whether any urine test is needed or not.” Contact : nvaasi tees staais ikkhtr baanve

Most common cause is change in climate or it could be because your child is drinking a lot of water. Try measuring his water intake and then reduce the quantity and observe if frequency reduces.
Next Steps
Urine routine examination at a lab -  morning urine Local examination for any infection or pain  at tip of penis
