Low grade fever past 5 days

2026-04-06 09:55:42
I'm having low grade fever usually 99.1 to 99.7 and sometimes 100.6 past 5 days. I am having dolo 650mg 3 times a day, azithromycin 500mg once daily, and cefexime 200mg twice daily, and too some zincovit as prescribed by the doctor. I got my blood Reports after 2 days of fever and its normal, like dengue ns1, typhoid, malaria, etc.  I have night sweats and fever is not going.. like I'm frustrated and tired of this.. someone says it's viral but I never ever had this kind of fever. Please help me with this. Please let me know the next steps as to keep on having medicines and dealing with the body pain or change the doctor or any specific text I should go for?

• A 5-day low-grade fever (99–100.6°F) with night sweats and body ache is most commonly due to a viral illness or post-viral inflammatory phase • Your negative tests for dengue, malaria, typhoid are reassuring • However, taking two antibiotics together (Azithromycin + Cefixime) without a confirmed bacterial source is usually not required and may not help in viral fever
Next Steps
• Do NOT randomly continue/change antibiotics on your own • If fever persists beyond 5–7 days → do targeted evaluation: – CBC repeat – CRP / ESR (to see inflammation) – Liver function test – Urine routine – Chest X-ray (if cough or chest symptoms) • Consider these possibilities: – Viral fever (most likely) – Typhoid Fever (early tests can be false negative) – Tuberculosis (if prolonged >2–3 weeks, weight loss, cough)
Health Tips
• Continue Paracetamol (Dolo 650) only when fever ≥100°F • Maintain hydration (ORS, coconut water) • Adequate rest is critical • Avoid overmedication (especially multiple antibiotics) • Night sweats can happen in viral illnesses—monitor trend

If it has been self medication so far then you should consult a General Physician in person. You may suggest to your Doctor if there can be any need for urine culture and blood culture.  You may like to get the tests for Malaria, Dengue and Typhoid repeated.

The negative results for Dengue, Typhoid, and Malaria are reassuring. However, night sweats combined with a fever unresponsive to antibiotics (Cefixime and Azithromycin) suggest that further history and work up needed to look beyond common bacterial infections. This could be a persistent viral syndrome or an inflammatory issue.
Next Steps
Consult any doctor or if u want to consult me for a second opinion your are always welcome. Need to check your reports and needs to decide whether additional investigation needed or not.
