Hello ma’am.
From the history you have given, your father 60/M who had alleged history of trauma in the form of twisting of right ankle 2days back.
Please kindly reply to these questions.
1) did the ankle twist inward or outward
2) was the patient able to bear weight immediately after the injury.
2) please kindly share a clinical picture of the foot with a finger pin pointing the pain. With this picture we can asses the severity of the swelling and clinically grade the injury.
On seeing the Xray that you have shared, there is no obvious fracture noted.
But there might be a ligament injury, which might need further evaluation after a trial of conservative treatment.
Next Steps
For now let the patient
1) elevate the limb on a pillow
2) avoid walking and weight bear, keep it minimal for atleast 2weeks
3) ice application
4) crepe bandage - temporary until you send the clinical picture of the foot ( might need deltacasting for 3weeks)
5) analgesics and anti inflammatory
