Infected RC treated molar lower
Hello Doctors, The molar on my lower left side was RC treated and crowned about 9 years ago. The treatment was poorly done as the crown was sticking out from the periphery of my gums.And I can feel the bottom lining of the crown with my tongue. It was ok at first but eventually I think food started settling between the crown and gums. About 4 months ago pus formation started on the outside of the gums (which is still there). Got an xray done recently and the doctor said that there has been bone loss on one side and bottom of the tooth and needs to be extracted. I would like to save the tooth if possible and was looking for some insights if possible. Attached is the picture of the xray to have a better idea. Thanks in advance.

The teeth will have mobility... Even if rct done again, it won't be a success....
The same issue repeats and bone loss and infection will spread to adjacent teeth..
Don't worry.. Do extraction and replace the teeth..

take antibiotics for three days, twice a day ..
then go and extract the teeth..
after two months when the socket healing is complete, you can do replacement...

This tooth is in bd condition and it is better to go for Extraction.
Even if you insist on saving it, it would require retreatment (Re RCT) with multiple dressings of medicine followed by crown. After this, the same condition can re-appear.
It is a source of infection in your mouth and can involve the adjacent tooth.
Better to remove it before it damages other teeth.

Hello.
As tooth is badly compromised with bone loss.it has to be removed.
And keeping it longtime cause more pus formation that spreads to other tooth.
Go ahead with tooth removal and bone grafting and opt for implant for replacement of tooth.

Hi.. it’s better to get it removed as the adjacent teeth is also loosing bone . Post extraction you can get socket preservation done with some bone graft wait for a couple of months and plan for a single implant . That way you will get a replacement for missing tooth and there won’t be any need to get the other teeth modified.

Hello sir,
This previously root canal treated tooth showing substantial bone loss on x-ray.
So prognosis is not favourable.
You will have to get it extracted followed by replacement with dental implant or a dental bridge.
