TMJ pain can exist independently or could be referred pain due to -impacted wisdom teeth/erupting wisdom teeth -ear infection -recent cold/viral -stress -clenching/grinding teeth Best way forward is to visit a dentist who would do clinical and radiographic examination to come to a diagnosis.
Next Steps
Visit Dentist
Health Tips
In the interim ,please avoid too wide mouth opening ,hard food and cold compresses to reduce pain.

TMJ pain can be of stress related mostly or due to tooth or due to muscle ache . If it is stress related i request you to get some entertainment on daily basis, in other cases like tooth or muscle ache visit doctor (oral surgeon) as treatment is needed . (Warm water rinse and pressure pack from outside could be helpful for temporary relief)

Well tmj pain sometimes heal itself . Considering your age it may be also due to your last erupting molar . Erupting last molar causes pain and even difficulty opening mouth . You may visit a dentist to clear out the exact cause . Tmj pain can be even treated by low level laser therapy followed by  medication .
