In my opinion the condition is in a mild and reversible stage. It has been caused probably due to inadeqaute hygiene maintenance leading to accumulation of plaque and calculus.
Next Steps
You need to get a thorough scaling done. Also use a gum astringent(eg. Stolin) for gum massage for 5 min thrice a day. Also use a chlorhexidene mouthwash twice a day for rinsing.
Health Tips
Use a soft bristles tooth brush and brush in vertical motion.
