Dry cough can't produce sputum for afb

I cannot produce sputum for sputum afb test. Had cold, fever, cough about 14 days ago. Fever, cold gone after 2 days medicine, but cough was there. Then noticed blood with cough in the morning time only. Noticed 3 days, went to the doctor, visited both ENT & Pulmonary. They gave some medicine along with lupituss cgh syp. Felt better, no bleeding for 3-4 days now in a row. Performed all the tests except for SPUTUM-AFB, CBNAAT, as my cough is dry and can't produce the required quality of sputum. Please help...

Hi according to your history you are suffering from Acute bronchitis . Do CHEST XRAY PA VIEW if chest xray showing consolidation or infiltrates go for sputum tests.If chest xray done kindly post it.

First Get a Chest X Ray done. If chest x ray has some lesions then the role of Sputum AFB / Cbnaat or Chest CT can be considered to identify the cause.

You shouldn't use expectorant in TB Hemoptysis. Syrup LUPITUSS should be used. You won't get CBNAAT correct report with blood tinged sputum. Let your Hemoptysis get subside As you said Hemoptysis got controlled, go for 3%NS nebulization instead of expectorant. Take online consultation for further information and management

You can try an expectorant like tablet N acetylcysteine 600 mg BD for 3-4 days If you still don't expectorate get an x-ray chest and consult a pulmonologist nearby

firstly if you are having blood in sputum- give the same sample for afb stain only..not for cbnaat. secondly don't even try any inducing agent lime steam or syrup to induce the cough- till your hemoptysis subsides. simply get a chest xray and nothing else for now
