Your current readings show fasting 120 mg/dl and post-dinner 160 mg/dl, which means sugar control is fair but not perfect. Metformin 500 mg once daily is a starting dose and often needs to be adjusted based on response. However, before increasing the dose or adding another medicine like glimepiride, it’s best to review your diet, timing of medicine, and activity pattern. Try taking metformin after breakfast, follow a strict low-carb diet, and add a 20–30 minute walk after dinner for a week or two. If fasting stays above 110 or post-meal above 160 consistently, your doctor may consider increasing metformin to twice daily before adding any new medicine. Never change dose without review because adding glimepiride too early can cause low sugar episodes. Those in Delhi are welcome to visit my clinic so I can review things personally and plan your sugar management properly.
