Dental scaling after tooth extraction

After how many days/weeks/months of wisdom tooth extraction can I go for scaling/root planning? I have a loose wisdom tooth. Dentist asked to remove it first. But I am concerned if it will be safe to clean so soon after removal? Can scaling be done before extraction?

It's generally advisable to wait for a few weeks after wisdom tooth extraction before undergoing scaling or root planning, also known as dental cleaning. The exact timing can vary depending on your healing process and the specific recommendations of your dentist or oral surgeon. The reason for waiting is to allow the extraction site to heal properly before any dental cleaning is performed. The initial healing phase helps to minimize the risk of disturbing the healing process, causing potential complications, or introducing infection. Your dentist's advice to remove the loose wisdom tooth first is a good approach, as addressing any dental issues like extractions should take precedence over routine dental cleanings. It's best to follow your dentist's guidance and wait until they give you the green light to proceed with dental cleaning. If you're uncertain or have any concerns, it's always a good idea to discuss your specific situation with your dentist to ensure you're making the right decisions for your oral health.

Ideally Scaling should be done before extraction. Or else you can get scaling done 7 days after Extraction.

Get scaling done before extraction. It will have additional advantage. It may get difficult to open mouth for atleast a week or more after extraction.

You can get your scaling done before the extraction. Because after the extraction you will find it difficult to open mouth for a while. But talk to your dentist once. And ask him/her your doubt because that’ll help you and the dentist.

Hi, A scaling procedure can be done before or in the same appointment of the extraction or you can wait for a week to 10 days after the wisdom tooth removal.
