After a root canal is done, the tooth looses its proprioception, that is, you do not realise the amount of pressure you're biting/using on that particular tooth since the pulp (nerve and blood vessels) have been removed and hence it is prone to fracture.
Due to this reason a patient must get a root canal tooth capped if not immediately, within 2-3 months..
