Cause of pain can be due to persisting trauma discomfort , food lodgement at the interphase of crown and tooth . An X-ray should be done , it will help to understand the cause aptly. By knowing the cause of the pain , dentist will be able to declare whether the persisting pain is okay or not.

Hello There is some discrepancy in your history. Have you got the crown done in upper teeth or upper and lower both? Some amount of discomfort is natural after trauma, but if it is persistant you must get a Xray done. In some cases your doctor might also advise you to go for CBCT ( a type of dental CT scan) . Additionally , pain on flossing can be due to some residual material in between teeth or gums. You should go back to the dentist who did the crowns and get a check up done
