Ankle sprain

Recently met with an accident and after two days ankle got swollen lightly. When consulted a doctor he said there would be a ligament strain/ tear in ankle and suggested three weeks rest. Should we get it scanned or any other suggestions

Kindly get a xray of the affected part. Plaster cast is indicated for 2-3 wks.  even if there is no fracture.
