Anemia problem

2025-12-02 08:09:52
I took a hemoglobin test in May and it was normal. But after two surgeries for wisdom tooth removal (mesial impaction) on October 2nd, I started feeling tired sometimes. So I rechecked my hemoglobin and now it is 9.7. How can I increase it?

A drop in haemoglobin from normal levels to 9.7 g/dL after recent surgeries is common and can occur due to blood loss during procedures, reduced food intake, inflammation, and poor absorption during recovery. This level indicates moderate anaemia, which makes you feel fatigued. Here is what you can do: - Add green leafy vegetables such as spinach and amaranth along with legumes and pulses (lentils, chickpeas, rajma). - If you consume non-vegetarian foods, eggs, fish, and lean meat are good sources of well-absorbed iron. - Garden cress seeds are rich in iron, folate, and protein. You can soak 1 teaspoon overnight and consume it in the morning, or add the soaked seeds to porridge, curd, or salads. - Always pair iron-rich foods with vitamin C sources such as lemon, amla, guava, or oranges. - Avoid tea, coffee, or calcium-rich foods close to iron-rich meals.

Root cause of Low iron level may vary. Though you can add natural iron sources like green goddess juice/ reisin water/ green leafy vegetables etc. Better is to figure out the reason first and change the diet accordingly.  You can get the constitution (vata/pitta/kapha) check and go accordingly. That dietary change will be as per the bodily requirement.
