Self esteem is very value driven. When we have self esteem issues mostly we carry a scale of comparison which can be with self or others. We cannot just ignore negative thoughts. Negative thoughts that contributes to our disturbance needs evaluation and puncturing. Once the Weightage of negative thoughts reduces then they can be replaced with an more appropriate rational thought.
