The sensitivity in your case might be because of the exposure of teeth to oral environment after the Scaling. You may use any desensitizing paste, apply it on your teeth, leave it on for 2mins and use the same paste for brushing. Do this twice a day for 2 weeks. It should help you with the sensitivity issue.
Coming to the gaps between the teeth, they are natural and you can maintain them by cleaning in between the teeth with a dental floss or an interdental toothbrush, after every meal or atleast once every night before your sleep. If you maintain this way, you might not even need a dental cleaning very soon. As you know it's always better to prevent than to cure...
