ACL Tear Surgery

2024-09-03 03:57:26
I had ACL surgery around a month back. After 1 month of surgery, I was able to start walking for short time. Yesterday I walked for some more time following which today I'm having pain and swelling at knee and the muscle above knee. I'm following RICE method to reduce the pain and swelling. I wanted to know is it normal to have pain and swelling after walking too much? How can I avoid it in future and after how long after the surgery, I can start walking as normal?

Structured physiotherapy is the norm. Nobody knows about your rehab protocol. 4wk-6wk is the critical stage. You should have developed strength before leaving the brace.

Its normal to develop some kind of pain and mild swelling if excess activity is done. Consult your doctor again regarding the pace of your rehab as every patient has a different recovery time. You shpuld be back to normal in 3 months ideally after the surgery.
