Alzheimers or not?

Asked for Male, 39 Years

My mother (78 yo) is showing early signs of alzheimers, eg memory lapses, confusion, unusual mood swings. However there is some evidence that this is pseudo dementia since episodes seem to corelate with periods when she has less social etc.. How can I determine if her symptoms are neurological out psychological?
