some amount of pain and discomfort is normal and expected following tightening of the braces. do consult your orthodontist if you feel the need to take a painkiller.

Your orthodontist/ braces specialist must have given you instructions of what to expect for first few days and what to eat /avoid eating on placing braces. Also medication to be taken for the pain should be prescribed by orthodontist.
