If abscess is there the tooth should not be filled weather temporary or permanent it should be left open so that the pus discharge takes place and you'll get feeling better... go for the root canal treatment or tooth removal as the condition requires...

Hello warm personal regards. The doctor would have started root canal treatment with the tooth that you have abscess with... They would have slightly cleaned it from inside and then would have done a temporary filling. The pain is because of the infection inside for which the doctor has advised antibiotics. If you still feel a lot of pain, then please visit your dentist as he would remove the filling and place a medicine inside again. For the time being, you can take paracetamol tablet for pain if you're uncomfortable with ibuprofen.
