A creatinine value of 1.3 mg/dL and urine protein “+” in a single test is not an emergency and does not automatically mean serious kidney disease, especially when you have no symptoms. Mild protein can appear temporarily due to dehydration, exercise, fever, or a concentrated morning urine sample.
Next Steps
early-morning urine protein–creatinine ratio (UPCR) or UACR, after good hydration and avoiding heavy exercise for 24 hours. If repeat tests are normal or very low, no treatment is needed. If protein persists on repeat testing, then consult a Nephrologist
