8 months suffering early stage sepsis
The baby has had a fever for the last 10 - 12 days and when we talked to the doctor he said to quickly admit the baby to the emergency and after doing the blood test , crp results and leukocyte count where too high and doctor said it is an early stage sepsis we want to know how much time will it take for the baby to recover he is now treated with IV antibiotics and baby is showing activity and he is not under oxygen support as he doesn't need that will help be alright? But the doctors are not doing any tests like blood tests to know if the conditions like leukocyte count and crp level have gone down or not since the last 48 hours when will they do the test ? Does it usually take this long to do the test in a baby ?

Yes, please have patience. It’s important to look for the clinical/symptomatic improvement of your baby. This includes improvement in activity, feeding, sleeping, and downward trend of fever. Repeating blood counts is more important if there is no clinical or symptomatic improvement. If baby is improving, then you don’t have to worry. Duration of antibiotics also depends on the site, nature and intensity of infection. Will require more information to comment on that.

Any infection with rise in cbc and crp needs antibiotics, and it takes 36-48 hours atleast for infection to subside and reflect in reports.Please be patient and trust your treating physician.
