My son had his 6-week vaccine today and we went for the 'painless' one. Now I'm reading that it's not as effective. Is that true and if so ? Can I opt for the normal 'painful' one during the 10-th week visit ?

More important is to take all primary and booster doses of DPT to boost immunity, you can go for normal painful at next visit after discussing with your doctor.
