Hello, my 6 months old fell off swing(2-3 feet height) and hit his head. There are no swelling or redness or anything. Could you please tell me if we need to do any check up. Just afraid since he hit his head.

Any Fall injury specially head injury needs to be assessed properly . In any such case certain symptoms needs to be checked like loss of consciousness  reccurrent vomiting or any abnormal moment or convulsions . Such case needs  immediate medical intervention as there could be some internal injury . Otherwise application of ice locally to reduce the swelling and pain can be done along with some analgesic like paracetamol. Recurrent fall injury for a child should be avoided as it can lead to some chronic manifestations occasionally . Also teeth injury should be rule out in any such case which is commonly associated  and can be easily missed out most of the time .

Observation period after head injury is about 48 hrs . If no vomiting , excessive sleepiness , excessive crying, swelling or pain it generally means all is  well . Routinely getting Xrays and CT scan head are not required unless indicated as per above symptoms
