5th metatersal base fracture
I had a 5th metatersal base fracture and had  fiber cast for six weeks and it's been over a week now since the cast is removed. I bone where i had fracture doesn't hurt but i have swelling near my ankle and on the other side aswell which creates difficulty in walking and my heel pains as if i have walked 10kms. I am currently talking a medicine called shelcal for calcuim and vitamin d3. Can you please help me out here.

Just do physiotherapy Avoid prolonged standing Limb elevation at night It will go eventually

Swelling after cast removal is very common. It is caused by change in blood circulation during the period of immobilisation in the cast. This can take upto 3 months to disappear completely.
Next Steps
Continue active exercises of the ankle and toes. Increase your activity levels slowly. Focus on proprioception during your physiotherapy sessions. Consult your treating doctor for prescription or video consult with me if you have any further questions.
