Hello, Schizophrenia is a psychotic disorder characterised by disconnect from reality. The patient may have unreasonable suspicions,  hearing voices which others don't hear and lose interest in self care, social interaction etc. Treatment is with anti psychotic medications. Bipolar disorder is characterized by episodes of depression and Mania interspersed with normal mood. It is treated with mood stabilizers. For both the problems treatment will be long term.
