Dr. Poongodi Bala

Dr Poongodi Bala is a fine Doctor and a wonderful human being. We saw her for our daughter’s anxiety and depression problems. Our teenaged daughter was a bright and an energetic child with a positive outlook towards life. However, the strict isolation during Covid coupled with our upbringing mistakes transformed her into a gloomy kid. We thought these changes were just a part of growing up but unchecked the sadness kept on growing inside her. The tipping point came when she started harming herself. And only that time we realize that something was wrong. Scared to the core we started looking for help. By god’s grace we came across Dr Poongodi Bala.

Dr Bala instantly put her on medication and started counselling. She tried hard to connect with her and develop a bond with our child. The progress was slow but consistent. The treatment continued for few months during which the medicine dosages kept on changing depending on the doctor’s assessment. Meanwhile Dr Bala advised us to give our daughter little space and not to push her for anything. Slowly her medicine dosages were tapered and it was stopped altogether after few months.

During this period our daughter appeared for her 10th board exam also. A few weeks back she got her results. It was a mixed bag but she got overall ninety plus percentage, which was a respectable figure, especially for someone who had such turmoil during her most of the preparation period. Now she has started a new chapter of her life. In addition to her regular studies she has joined self defence classes and has started participating in various cultural events organized by her school and other organizations. She is back to her old self. And we have none other than Dr Poongodi Bala to thank for her transformation. Thank you Doctor.

I am aged 36. Juvenline diabetic for past 20 years and on insulin for 3 times a day. Also recently diagonsed with more medical issues and complications. My son struggled to complete his school work. We changed school a few times. It didn't help him and he refused to go to school last year. Medication given by other doctors didn't help him. We approached Dr. Poongodi Bala with a huge list of issues that our kid had been experiencing for quite some time. She quickly realised the core underlying issue and explained the same in detail to us. We were initially sceptical about the medication aspect but she guided and allayed our anxiety in this regard as well. Many difficult situations arose at home while taking care of our kid, but we never felt helpless as we were always able to reach out to her for expert guidance and every single time she reached back with her timely advice. Through her counselling sessions, we as a family got an insight into our kid's issues and their solution. We look up to her more as a mentor, who with her guidance and knowledge sharing, has empowered us to confidently handle most of our issues by ourselves- now we know what to do in a particular scenario. She is absolutely non-judgmental and one feels very comfortable to open up to her. Further, I highly appreciate her punctuality, professional friendliness, extreme patience and dedication. Her experience is clearly visible in her confident handling of patients. Our kid continues to make progress under her guidance.

I consulted the Doctor for my child behavioral and developmental issues. The first appointment was to let doctor know about the issues and behavior pattern my child undergoes and get some treatment from the doctor. First visit lasted 15 min and all the details were noted by doctor and asked us to send few videos of child so that she can come up a plan of treatment. After sending videos after a week , follow up visit was requested by doctor to be scheduled. Once the appointment was scheduled, first thing which we did not like in the visit was 29 minutes delay in seeing us from the time appointment was. No apology or a concern was expressed by the doctor for lateness. Once appointment started, doctor started telling about all negative things and disability and IQ level of the child for 25 minutes. At the end when we asked for solution, the answer was, nothing more we can do about it. My child has to be supported throughout the life and parents has to wait and see.

As parents biggest frustration was, the issue that my child has is already known to us. All the doctor did in the first visit was listened what we said, and elaborated the same in second visit. We are going to doctor for solution not for listening to problem which parents already know. Both visits were charged by the doctor. ** ******* ***** ** *** ********* when it comes to child but bare minimum expectation is the solution or some positive aspects. **** ****** *** *** **** *** ******** *** ****** *** **** ** *** ***** *********** ********

We as parents understand the pain and emotions of other parents who has child with behavioral and developmental issues so I highly DoNOT Recommend this Doctor.

I visited Dr Poongodi Bala for my anxiety problem. I am surprised that she didn’t prescribe any medication. She suggested cognitive behavioural therapy. After attending few sessions I completely recovered from my anxiety. Thank you Dr Poongodi Bala
