I consulted Dr. Kavya Shri for abdominal pain, and after an ultrasound scan, I was told that I appeared to have a dermoid cyst measuring around 5 cm. A CT scan was not suggested before proceeding with surgery.

I was told that the cyst could only be confirmed as a dermoid through laparoscopic surgery. I was also informed that if I did not undergo surgery, there could be a risk of ovarian damage and that the ovary might eventually need to be removed. Based on this information, I was convinced to proceed with the surgery.

However, after the surgery, I was informed that it was not a dermoid cyst but simply dead tissue. **** **** ** ********* ********* *** *********** ******* ******* ******* ** ************* ***** **** **** ********** ****** ************ ** ******** **********

I feel that I was not given enough information about alternative diagnostic options or the possibility that the ultrasound finding might not have been a dermoid. As a patient, I expected a more thorough evaluation and clear discussion of all possible options before undergoing surgery.
