Dr. Suraj Manjunath is currently a Senior Consultant and Chief of Cancer Surgery at Manipal Hospital, Miller’s Road, Bangalore. His special interests include minimally invasive surgery for gastrointestinal cancers, breast cancer surgery (Organ Conservation, Oncoplasty, and Sentinel Node Techniques), and ERAS (Enhanced Recovery After Surgery) protocols in oncosurgery.He has trained in centers of excellence in India and abroad and was the gold medalist in his post-doctoral MCh (surgical oncology) from the Kidwai Memorial Institute of Oncology.He was the first Indian recipient of the United States Society of Surgical Oncology International Career Development Award. He has trained in Upper Gastrointestinal Oncology at the MD Anderson Cancer Center, University of Texas. He has also worked at the University of Chicago Cancer Center, and the Detroit Medical Center in Michigan.Dr. Suraj Manjunath set up the Department of Surgical Oncology at St. John’s Medical College, where he was the Professor and Head till 2017, having served there for more than a decade. more..I met Dr. Suraj today for my mother's treatment for an enlarged lymph in neck. He was kind enough to explain what a lymph is, why it gets infected, diagnosis methods and how to treat without surgery. He referred her to a TB expert and walked all the way with us to the other doctor. He explained his observations/findings and made sure we get appropriate treatment. And to our surprise, at the end of all consultation, he walked back to us along with TB expert and induced confidence. I still wonder how such a popular and busy doctor can do this.
