A good and well meaning doctor; can't say the same about her Hospital (they pad the bills, look at your face and price and don't disclose costs properly)! I had to have a mole excised and my mother suggested Dr.Patil. She works at Manipal Hospital - we knew Dr. Patil from a previous interaction with her. She advised us correctly and there were NO problems (pain, infection-sepsis) and complications with the mole removal and subsequent biopsy. If you look at the Oncology notice board you might notice that hers is the only article with common sense and sound advise 'Early detection is IMPORTANT in cancer'. When I fell ill (viral) she advised me correctly and suggested plenty of Paracetamol for the pain and suggested I get a blood test for Dengue (I was worried it might be sepsis but it was a chemical burn because i had applied Dettol directly to the skin).

She is very friendly with patients and their families.
She infuses courage to fight with the disease, when I contact through the mail she replied, promptly.
unfriendly and rude doctor. I waited for the doctor for over 45 minutes even after having appointment. when she came i requested for urgency as i was sitting with my mother's PET ct scan and was very anxcious what the doctor will say.

Hi all ,
Please make sure you take another doctors opinion before you go ahead with Dr. Poonam Patil's advice. We had consulted her for a lump in the breast and after undergoing tests and PET scan it was diagnosed as Grade 2 Brest cancer. and Dr. Poonam Patil's first words was - we will go for CHEMOTHERAPY for 6-8 months after which we will go for surgery and then we will go for radiation etc !! and the way in which she talks to her patients is VERY VERY Disappointing, specially for those who are already fighting for their life! As a doctor she is suppose to be kind and humble to her patients. When asked about the side affects of chemo as well , her reply was - YEAH YOU WILL LOOSE ALL OF YOU HAIR , ALL THE TOOTH WOULD TURN BLACK , YOU WILL NEVER BE THE SAME AGAIN.!! every word of hers only increases the fear in the patients !!
To have a second opinion we consulted HCG Hospital , Bangalore. (Dr. Mahesh) after studying the case , immediately suggested for lumpectomy and after the surgery a few days of radiation therapy . It was also confirmed that
THERE WAS NO NEED FOR CHEMOTHERAPY AT ALL and everything will be perfect. AND yes everything is FINE now.
I am not there to judge a person like Poonam Patil who has studied medicine. I respect her for that alone . BUT please stop playing with lives, her words /decisions can change the lives of an entire family for ever !!. Please be careful on what you convey to patients!!! they will blindly believe you and go ahead with what ever you tell because they are already at a bad stage in life !. Encourage them if you can , else LET IT BE. its OKAY for you to suggest another Dr. if you are not sure about about any case. This will not decrease your potential as a doctor MRS. Patil.
I AM GLAD WE TOOK A SECOND OPINION HERE.
Request everyone to please take a min and read this review. it may be useful for someone in need.

It was a really awful experience, as the doctor doesn't spend time with the patient and doesnt give enough attention to the issues of the patient. Each time we visited and shared our issues, there was no prompt reaction and always an extreme delay on the doctor's end.
She is one of those doctors who follows text books for treatment and has no personal expertise of her own. What she brings to the table is what even a 1 year experience person at her field will bring. If you want your loved ones to die a slow painful death, by all means, consult her.
