My Father was diagnosed with Tongue Carcinoma and had to immediately go through surgery to avoid further spread. Post the surgery, the treatment had to continue with one month of Radiation therapy. We were advised to get counselled with Dr. Nisha Vishnu, Radiation Oncologist in Fortis Hospital Bannerghatta Road - Bangalore. Dr. Nisha Vishnu was compassionate and friendly in her approach. She articulately and in easy terms explained the medical condition and the associated treatments, which helped gain confidence of my Father who is a senior Citizen. All through the duration of Radiation therapy, Dr. Nisha Vishnu was there by our side giving positive support to the Patient and treating the side effects of Radiation with minimal medications. She was approachable even for the simplest of clarifications. Touch wood! now my Father has recovered well post the Radiation therapy and is on the way back to leading a normal life. It requires lot of patience to handle a Radiation patient as it is one of the toughest therapies and the patient has to go through a lot. In this scenario the patient expects lot of empathy and care from the treating Doctor. Indeed, Dr. Nisha Vishnu has aptly demonstrated all these qualities very well and is a rare breed. Overall, the complete Radiation therapy episode was well managed in a holistic manner covering all aspects, right from planning of the Radiation Fractions, explaining the Treatment plan, Medications, Diets, follow ups, all coordinated by Dr. Nisha Vishnu. Dr. Nisha Vishnu was very friendly and explained the treatment options thoroughly, which made me feel comfortable throughout the consultation.

Her ability to cover all aspects of radiation therapy and any other issues that might arise in the future is incredible. All this was done even before the treatment started which helped us gain the best knowledge possible about the treatment, post effects and future concerns. She promised that my father’s pain would reduce by the eight day and that’s exactly what happened. That shows the clarity and the perfect analysis of the approach towards the treatment.

From the beginning she is very articulate, friendly, calm, assuring and most important took the time to answer each and every query we had. She is always smiling, very approachable and of course extremely knowledgeable in her field. Even post treatment she would visit us when we were in the hospital for chemotherapy. I have approached her numerous times on issues not directly concerned with the treatment and she’s always been there for me. We are extremely happy and thankful for her and the wonderful team. The doctor arrived late so, honestly I was a little irritated because I had taken a day off from my job and had some other commitments but the doctor apologised for being late and she addressed the issue with a lot of expertise.She also, went beyond and offered a very personal help from her Gyno friend.I think the wait was worthy enough to meet her
