Visited Dr. Maruthesh Gowda (Bariatric Surgeon) For Acid Reflux
Hoped for better: Explanation of the health issueTreatment satisfactionValue for money
I had history of acid-reflux and heartburn from last two years. I have gone through many treatment but nothing worked. In march 2021 I had my first endoscopy and I was diagnosed with small hiatal hernia. My doctor said symptoms can be cured by medication with lifestyle changes and surgery is immediately required. For one whole year I tried medication with lifestyle changes but the situation got worse for me. I had following symptoms:1) Acid- reflux2) Random chest pain (on both sides)3) it felt like something is stuck in my throat and I was always trying to cough it out.4) Heartburn, generally when I am hungry5) Shortness of breath.6) whenever I was eating something, I felt like vomiting. In march 2022, I went to Bangalore for the treatment and I had my second endoscopy. Now that small hernia is converted into a large hiatal hernia with fundal erosions. The doctor who did endoscopy has suggested me to go for 24 PH hour manometry before surgery. Instead I went to surgeon Gowda and told him everything. He talked for almost 10 minutes'and suggested me to go for fundoplication. He was kind enough to answer my doubts through WhatsApp, he made me sure that the symptoms will disappear and will not persist after the surgery. I will be able to Live a normal Life again So I went for surgery with him on 8th April 2022.Now after 2 months of surgery I am having following symptoms:1) unexplained left shoulder pain which is very severe sometimes even painkillers won't work. ******* ***** *** ** **** ***** *** **** ** ********** Whenever I ask him what's wrong he says it will settle down.2) sometimes I face problem in swollowing food 3) it feels like something is stucj in my throat and I am trying to cough it out.4) severe heartburn when I am hungry5) I lost around 5 kgs of wait6) shortness of breath7) my diet is cut by 50% because i feel full too early nowI would suggest to choose your surgeon carefully before going for surgery and do not avoid pH manometry. **** **** ******* ** *** *** ******** ** **** ******* *** **** ** ****** * **** ********* ****

Surgery mithra helped me to set up video consultation with Dr Maruthesh after I was detected with cholelithiasis in master health check up as live in Marathalli. I had consulted a surgeon who had advised immediate surgery near to my home. Doctor explained possible complications of infection, jaundice and pancreatitis and stressed complications happens in only 5% of people. He said having Laparoscopic cholecystectomy is up to me in current condition. He gave honest opinion. If have gallbladder surgery then I will choose Dr Maruthehs Gowda.

If you or your parents know about agriculture then you are in for treat. So far have never come across any other doctor who has so much of enthusiasm for agriculture. It reflects in his treatment. Nil or Minimal tests in first visit unless absolutely necessary. More emphasis on Life style changes. Does not ask you to redo tests already done. Had actually gone to get Robotic Nissen Fundoplication instead of Laparoscopic surgery for my hiatus hernia. My parents were worried about me having surgery so they had accompanied me. He talked to them about things that they know – agriculture which calmed them. Then explained how lifestyles are important whether you have surgery or not. He was the first surgeon to stress lifestyle changes are necessary even after surgery. If we control symptoms with lifestyle changes then surgery may not be needed.

I am writing this review 10 days after my laser surgery for anal fissure. The surgery took 20-30 mins and was painless since I was under anesthesia. As of now some pain still persists, but it's much better than the first 5 days. Dr. Gowda is one of the best doctors I have had because he's reliable, responsive and experienced in his field. It's very clear that he puts the patients interests and concerns over everything else and always responds on whatsapp. He will be my go-to doctor for all gastro related issues. I definitely recommend him!
