I got an appointment with Dr. Amitabha Ghosh, after looking him up in Practo for treatment of my gallstone last year(2020). He easy to talk to, explains the diagnosis and procedure thoroughly, and boosts up the confidence levels of the patient with his sense of humor. In fact my scheduled surgery got cancelled because of lock-down in March'20, and I waited for a year to get it done in March 2021, as I had lot of faith and confidence in his abilities.

My surgery went fine, was discharged the next day and I have had a remarkable recovery a week after. He keeps following up with the patient regularly on phone for status updates, both prior and post surgery, which is unique and the most helpful aspect.

He is one of the top doctor/surgeon's that I've come across in Kolkata, and I would recommend him to my friends, family.

My daughter payel bhattacharyya is a Thallassaemia patient. Dr. Amitava Ghosh, surgeon operated her laproscopic gall stone surgery very efficiently and excellently. After operation he was very caring and supportive and friendly behaviour which helped her a lot for speedy recovery. He is an excellent and outstanding surgeon.I am very satisfied. I visited Dr Ghosh for my mother for gall bladder stone removal as my house physician recommended him. No doubt I can say now he is the best in his work. He explained everything how surgery will happen and how it may or may not affect our body. Surgery started right on time and ends on time. Best of the lot the medications given healed my mother in a week. And till now which is going to be 20 days he regularly follow up to check on my mothers health and condition. I had been diagnosed with large and complex incisional hernia and was admitted to Dhakuria AMRI under the care of Dr. Amitabha Ghosh.

In the beginning I was a bit nervous but soon Dr.Ghosh's charisma, confidence and positive attitude helped to keep my fear and anxiety at bay.

Dr. Ghosh repaired the hernia by placing a mesh with intense care and at the same time carried out abdominoplasty very skillfully. This gave my tummy a toned look.

As long as I was in the hospital, the doctor not only made two to three rounds but also called up the sister in charge to find out if everything was okay.

However due to extensive procedure of tissue removal, I developed seroma (a serous fluid). The doctor brought this under control by regular dressing , aspiration and proper medication.

Today I am in the pink of health due to his relentless care and support before , during and after operation.

To conclude, it may rightly be said that he is a remarkable doctor, a good soul and possesses a charismatic personality.

He is a great doctor and most importantly a very good human being. My father had an inguinal hernia and also had some complexity with prostrate. He managed the entire procedure starting from identifying the main hernia problem, managing other doctors for consultations related to other complexities which my father had, Anesthetists, Risk Analysis and everything. We were very much comfortable and confident with the doctor from the very first day. My father was admitted at AMRI Dhakuria in the early morning at 7 AM. The operation started at 9.30 AM under general anesthesia and continued till 11 AM. My father recovered fully by 4 PM in the evening. It was a laparoscopic surgery with only 3 very small cuts. I could identify only 1. The other 2 were not visible to me. On the next day, Dr. Ghosh came early morning, reviewed his vitals and asked my father to accompany him for a small walk round the corridor. Dr Ghosh engaged him in general conversation and at the same time made him walk without any assistance. Dr. Ghosh even made my father walk up and down the stairs with 100 % confidence. After the walk was over Dr. Ghosh again asked my father whether he was OK or not. Once my father nodded his head the doctor asked me to take my father home in the evening.The package was for 4 days but that was reduced to only 2 days. He is fit and fine and resumed his daily activities very soon. The best part is Dr. Ghosh himself called up my father for 2-3 times to understand his improvement. I could not thank him enough but wish him all the best for his life. He is a great friendly doctor and always reachable for any help. I would highly recommend Dr. Amitabha Ghosh for any general surgery. He handles all the cases with extreme importance and care. God be with him to help us in our crisis. My mother in law was diagnosed with acute Cholecystectomy. She had a lot of complexity including chronic pulmonary problem, sugar and thyroid. She had at high surgery risk initially for poor lung function but under doctor Suranjan Mukherjee's diagnosis and care, the risk reduced substantially. Doctor Amitabha Ghosh made sure that the operation is done only after stabilizing all the factors as much as possible. Only after that the operation was conducted and it was 100% successful. We were all relieved to hear that she was doing fine and there is no need for any intensive care. I am very thankful to doctor Amitabha Ghosh for treating my father and mother in law.
