I'm Uma. I have been consulting Dr.Kanmani for the past 5 months. Though she tried to help me with my self-confidence, the overall experience turned out to be bitter. I would like to share my experience so that it would be helpful to others. I currently live in Canada and got in touch with Dr.Kanmani around Jan. She charges 1200 rs. per session. We regularly had sessions every month and I was starting to feel a little better. But recently, I had an early morning appointment on June 7th at 8:00 am, even after me requesting her evening/night sessions, which is easier for me to open up, she went on to book an early morning one for her convenience. Unfortunately, before the appointment, I couldn't sleep the whole night and I informed her about that 4 hours before the appointment and requested for cancellation and rescheduling. After which I dosed off. I woke up right before the appointment and saw her texts saying she is travelling that night and she won't be able to reschedule, the best she could do is postponed an hour but she had asked me to confirm it by 7:30 am. As I was sleeping, I missed the text. But I reached out to her around 8:10 am and asked her if we could stick to the actual appointment timing and have the call. She refused saying she made other plans as she didn't hear back from me. She said she will reschedule but I need to first pay the cancellation fee of 400rs. I was honestly confused as I had never heard of this from her before. She never intimated about this before. Not even one warning. When I went on to ask about this fee, she told me that it has been mentioned on the registration link which was sent to me around Jan. When I asked her why didn't she mention this earlier, she said she was doing me a favour by rescheduling appointments. But not this time. Even she had cancelled and rescheduled the appointments to her convenience, then what about that? Isn't my time valued? And she was super rude about it. I have her texts and voice notes. I shared my personal stuff and opened myself up in confidence with her, *** *** * ********* **** ** ***** *** **** *** ****** **** **** *** **** ** **** ***** ** *** ********* ************** ** *** ** ****** ** **** * **** I am highly disappointed and I wouldn't recommend her to anyone. **** *** ***** ******

I had a worse breakup, tried committing suicide and was admitted to a hospital because I wasn't able to sleep. Was going through a bad phase in my entire life. I had anxiety attacks, was taking antidepressants and trembled to talk about what happened. I knew I had to take therapy. Met 4 therapists and none of them were useful. I kinda lost hope and then a friend of mine referred me to Kanmani. I was really wondering and had the usual questions like 'Therapy would never work for me and what the therapist would say? Maybe everything will be alright and life will move on?' I always thought therapy isn't for me.

I am proud to say Kanmani proved me wrong. During our first call, I really was surprised at how she listened to me and empathised with my problem. She clearly laid out a roadmap on what therapy is about and how it can help me lead a better life. She structured the entire process phase by phase and she was pretty much patient about the process and made sure I understood everything. I don't know how she's able to take a genuine interest in knowing the person and approach the problems in the most effective way possible.

I am at 6 months of my therapy now. I'd say my perspective towards therapy has totally changed. Even if Kanmani is disagreeing with this, I'd say my perspective has changed for good only because of her. She's pretty much thoughtful with the recommendations she makes and lets you see clearly what's ahead. Her attention to detail is mind-blowing. On the last call, we had, I literally was all smiling talking to her updating me about my life and what I'm going to do. Life for me isn't great right now, but she provided me with the clarity that self-love will give you a lot of confidence to face whatever comes in your life. More than a therapist, she really is a good human with good clarity. It isn't about just consultation but a human-to-human connection whereby the end of the session, you'd feel relieved.

If you're going through a tough time and looking for therapy, I could personally vouch for her.

I have been taking sessions for more than an year now. I can never get enough of them. Ma'am, is very very good at her subject. Not, only ma'am made me a better person, but all my fears are gone now. I used to be scared of being abandoned, but now I realise self worth. I am no more a people pleaser, I wouldn't have thought about being the person I am today. I have evolved a lot... I have matured, be it taking one thing at a time or for making small decisions for me. I was never able to do for my self.

Lastly, I want to appreciate the most caring nature of ma'am. Ma'am, is very empathetic, and is always there to listen to me. Whatever and however I want to I can share with her. And this is all because of the space ma'am has provided. The ease of communication.... I just don't ever want my session to end. :-) I am still trying and coping with things, but it's been possible only because of ma'am.
