As a PCOD patient, I was continuously gaining weight, was diagnosed with pre-diabetes (HbA1c - 5.80%) post COVID, and my Thyroid levels reached 6.58. I also used to feel lethargic most of the time. My doctor suggested I take Thyroid medications for that. However, before starting, I decided to change my diet and lifestyle. We were looking for a clinical nutritionist for that, and that is how we came in touch with Itu Ma'am. She suggested a two-month program for me where she monitored my weight, diet, blood sugar levels and suggested diet changes and supplements based on the response. I did not have to make drastic changes to my diet for that, and it was easy to cope with the diet plan with minimal variations to my routine. Itu ma'am made sure that I did not feel hungry or deprived despite losing around 5.5kgs in two months. While I completely stopped consuming white sugar, my sugar cravings also reduced (despite me having a sweet tooth). My energy levels also improved. I also saw positive changes in my health, not just the weight loss. My HbA1c level came down to 5.30%, and my Thyroid levels dropped to 4.3110, which is in the normal range. My liver health also improved, and the Grade I fatty liver that I had somewhat reduced. That is when I realized the holistic approach Itu ma'am was taking, and she was able to reverse my thyroid and pre-diabetes completely. A few months back, I was diagnosed with fatty liver stage-2 and entrocoloitis. In last 2.5 years, I had obnoxiously gained almost 20kgs weight. Though, I had consulted many nutritionists and dieticians before to control my unusual weight gain but none of the diets helped. Instead, resulted in a really bad gutt health and problems like bloating, excessive stomach ache, acid reflux, tiredness and intense feeling of food deprivation.
So, I finally decided to consult a medical nutritionist this time who could help me with liver and gutt issues but at the same time also help me manage my weight. I found Dr. Itu on Google search, was impressed by the feedback she had on her profile and decided to give her a try.
During my first conversation with her I was pretty much convinced to enrol under her because she listened to me patiently and carefully, very well understood my health issues with liver, intestines and digestion and also helped me in understanding that why I have been gaining weight and how it is related to my gutt issues.
I have been consulting her for almost 3 months now and have double enrolled under her and I feel way better than before. Every week, she provides me with a detailed plan on what to eat at what time. She is always available on whatsapp or, call and replies very quick for anything you ask her for. She asks almost daily for updates to hold you accountable and really pushes you hard to achieve your own goal. Here are few of the amazing changes that I see in my body in these last months:
- My day starts at 8:00 am now(which was 11:00 am earlier) and ends at 11:30 pm which was (3-4 am earlier) as the doctor stresses a lot on day timings and sleep for overall health
- I have started feeling hungry now, don't feel pukish anymore, acidity and bloating has reduced from 7 days a week to 2 days which is HUGE.
- I feel quite energetic through the day and the body pain/all time tiredness has gone away.
- Waking 10k steps every day has become sooo normal now. Sometimes, I even hit 15k a day when I have time or, feel motivated. Before, I was barely walking 2k steps a day. Itu has helped me a lot there with her continuous push and motivation.
- Have been eating food that is good for my tastebuds, best for my body and completely doable. I don't feel much food deprived with her diet the way I used to feel with other diets. I get to relish my favorites like poha, upma, dhokla, idli sambhar, daal chawal and a lots of veggies :D
- Last but not the least, I have come down a size in my clothes (when I am not bloated) and FINALLY, my weight has started dropping down even after fatty liver and colitis. Have lost 2.5 kgs in last 1 month.
I would highly recommend the doctor. Trust in my doctor, the process and the patience is definitely helping me.
