On 3 Sep 2016, when I came from office, I felt am anxious, having palpitation as if heart is beating fast and with more force than normal. I thought that I might have high b.p. I measured using electronic B.P machine multiple times it was in range of 150/100. I thought digital b.p machine may not be accurate so went to a clinic nearby. The reading was in the same range. When I came back from home started thinking I might have some heart problem. Soon after heart was racing and went upto 110 bpm and B.P shoot up to 160/110 in home b.p machine. I got scared as I have heard and read that high bp could lead to stroke.
I went to one of a well renowned hospital it was around 9 pm in the night. I got admitted in hospital. They took my ECG and suspected acute myocardial infarction (Heart Attack). My heart rate was 130 bpm. Hearing this, I got badly scared. One of the duty doctor told their staff to give sublingual sorbitrate ( medicine used in angina). But I resisted that I don’t want to take this, please discuss with Cardiologist. Cardiologist came after some time and suggested some more test including Troponin test ( to know if heart attack really took place). The entire test was negative for Heart problems. I just had high cholesterol. I was admitted and was on different medicine like beta-blocker and other anti hypertensive drugs which I came to know after I discharged. I was badly scared.
Next day, another cardiac doctor visited and suggested to go for TMT Test. My heart beat was 120 bpm for normal activity. I didn’t had courage to go for TMT stress test so I refused. Next day, somehow decided to take TMT stress test with 112 bpm resting and test was negative. So doctor has confirmed, I should not have a heart disease.
But this was not the end “I probably had a heart attack or I have serious heart problem" - I was always pre occupied by this thought.
I went to see another cardiologist he too confirmed I am fine. Still I could not able to convince myself that I have a healthy heart.
Then over Practo could able to get details Dr. Nishith Chandra. He did check up, seen my medical records and assured that I do not have a heart problem. He has suggested me to reduce weight. I was 78 Kg that time. He told me to walk 10,000 steps/day. Drink lots of fluid, approximately 4L/day.
I went home, but not even a single second I could able to think that I am as fine as anyone else. I took one week leave and then resumed office. My colleagues started asking well-being. Some suggested that I should be careful as heart disease is serious.
After 15 days, while I was coming from office. I had chest pain. I gave myself auto suggestion that I am fine. It is just a gastric. I had palpitation. By the time I reached home my BP shot up again 160/115, my heart rate raced to 140 bpm. I went to emergency they too did ECG. I carried all my medical records. After one hour I was discharged from hospital. He took blood test, I was hyperventilated. Probably I had a panic attack.
So thought, different things, my work is hectic. I forgot to mention that I am 40 years old management professional working with MNC. I thought to leave job and start my own business.
I applied 2 months leave. The more I took rest the the more my condition deteriorated. Now I cannot even able to walk 2000 steps a day. I used to feel tired, just while walking half a kilometre, my heart rate used to shoot up 140 bpm. You might be thinking how I am so accurate on pulse count. I bought pulse oxy meter! which I used to carry always because I use to believe max allowable heart rate should be 220- age, so in my case its 180 bpm.
I went again to meet Dr. N Chandra; he has done check up and told everything is fine. But this time my bp was 140/90. He suggested changing lifestyle. Reduce weight, drink water 4L/day. Join meditation classes. He has always treated me not as a doctor but as a friend.
Now my problem was increasing day by day. I used to avoid staircases; avoid all strenuous, labour intensive exercise. I don’t want to get involved in discussion, argument or debate. Overcautious as if anytime some emergency might come.
With long rest, my life started becoming hopeless. I used to measure B.P and pulse atleast 10 times a day. Every day I had palpitation. I lost 7 kg weight. After 1.5 months of rest I decided to go to office- but again with oxymeter. I measured almost every 10-15 mins. Measured during ride in auto due to shake it does not get correct reading. Suddenly I felt nausea I got down from auto rikshaw, pulse was 160 bpm. I sat near road side. After relaxing 10 mins I was fine, went home and took rest.
My confidence was totally shattered. I didn’t want to go alone. I always wanted someone to be with me so in case of emergency I could able to take his help. I used to ride slowly, walk cautiously as if I have serious heart problem. Now I can say it was all in my brain and mind. But at that time I was a helpless person.
Again I went to Dr. N. Chandra just after 10 days to previous visit, in Mid December. He took my bp and bp was 150/100. This time I was diagnosed with Hypertension. He put me on Beta blocker 100 mg/day sustained release. I thought, what if, if sustained release doesn’t last for 24 hours, so I asked can I take divided dose of 50mg twice. He said there is no harm. I asked multiple stupid questions. Will my bp medicine can ever be reduced? Can ever my medication be stopped? Dr. N. Chandra always answered my each query with great patience.
I didn’t want to take medicine for hypertension or heart. Actually no one wants by choice. I read about all the side effects of this medicine and started getting all the side effects some of them was gastric, constipation, lack of sleep etc. I clarified with doctor that he told that these are not because of beta blocker.
Reason for worry got increased. Now I was worried about effects of taking beta-blocker. Can I ever able to get rid of?
I decided that I need to get out of this and if I cannot help myself there is nobody who can help me.
It was December 2016, I maintained a dairy and used to write positive sentences “like I don’t have bp”, “ My heart is strong and healthy” etc 7 times. I did this for more than 3 months
- Took Ayurvedic medicine like Arjuna, Ashwagandha
- Did regular walk upto 8000 steps daily
- Included Juice & food good for health
- Included time for worship
- Did meditation
After 3 month, in March 2017, I met Dr. N. Chandra again, he measure b.p it was 130/80. He said excellent. I continued, all the above what I did.
Recently, I met Dr again. This time my bp was 120/80. Metoprolol was reduced to 50mg daily.
I would sincerely like to thank Dr. N. Chandra for helping me out with this tough situation where belief on self was vanished. *** ********** ********* *********** ** *********. Moreover he is a nice person who is always ready to help.

My father had a positive Treadmill Test and we went to Dr. Chandra after carefully selecting him for further treatment. It was a wonderful experience being treated by someone of his calibre and expertise. He explained the issues well, assured us all throughout the process and even when more complications were detected, such as calcification of the blockages in the heart, he was very assuring and performed the Rotablation procedure Angioplasty himself, successfully and the whole process was completed very smoothly and professionally. Dr. Chandra's team is also excellent and her assistant, Mrs. Sapna Rawat, also gives a lot of assurance and support to the patients and the attendants, always being available for a conversation in case there are any doubts or questions. The whole process was dealt with in an excellent manner and I would highly recommend Dr. Chandra to anyone having any kind of heart related issues.

I have been doing treatment of gastro problems from last 4 - 5 months, but have not got much relief, which in turn makes me to feel like I have heart problem as I momentarily get Chest pain, rapid pulse, breathlessness, etc. I asked my gastro doctor and internal medicine doctor that if I might have heart problem. They just say all ok or will get ok and give medicines without explanation why I am having these problems. I was doubtful, scared of getting heart attack, stressed, etc.
But, Dr Nishith, explained every thing. And it was wonderful. Other Doctors in hospitals rarely do that, unless he/she knows you personally or you are his/her old regular patient.
He told me that I have no heart problem and with his Explanations....
he simply put me at ease.
Now I have no fear of heart attack or any heart disease as I get these due to acid reflux.
He only prescribed me anti acid and to do regular exercise, to get my fats burn.
Thanks to him. It was really a wonderful consultation.
And as he is one of the Top cardiologist in Delhi ncr, I trust him.

My father had a bypass surgery in 2017. Mr Nishith Chandra was the first one we met and he talked to us very nicely and recommended Dr. Ramji Mehrotra for the surgery. It’s been 2 years now. We have been going every 6 months and we visited again today in his OPD - as a follow up.
We saw a different Dr. Nishith this time . Before the surgery, he was very nice to talk to and explained us in detail about our situation and why the bypass was necessary. He was very pleasant to talk to and was a good listener .
But today, after waiting for more than 1 hour of our scheduled appointment time, he came. When we met him , he barely spent 5 mins with us with no interest what so ever in our condition and our problems . We felt like an uninvited guest to a relative who wanted us to just leave !
We paid 1000 Rs consulting fees, waited for 1.5 hours - just to feel his indifference. Even if I am not expecting a personal touch in the relationship of a doctor and a patient ( which personally I believe should be there ), it was not even professional . It was no value for the money and time we spent.
My father and myself had no confidence to ask any questions as he was not really interested. He wanted to just get to the next patient to complete his list of appointments today.
Sorry to say, but we have decided to stop going there from now onwards and find another doctor.
Thanks
Neelam

We brought our father Mr KM Gupta, 80 yrs from Bhopal for the treatment of Angina pain. There was some complication and the angioplasty with rota ablation procedure is not available in whole MP, including Bhopal and Indore. Dr Chandra considered our problem and circumstances and immediately performed Rota procedure. In absence of Rota or in case of its failure, we would have left with only option of By -Pass surgery. In general we do not want papa to under go surgery at the age of 80 yrs.
All thanks to Almighty *** ******* ***** ** Dr Chandra, support to him by his fellow doctors and team, that the Rota procedure was successful.
Before the procedure, Dr Chandra has advised us and appraised us regarding all the pros and cons and properly explained, what if some thing goes wrong and then what would be the next line of action and treatment.
He is so cordial and friendly that he even talked to our cardiac physician at Bhopal for the treatment already given, general condition of patient and suitably advised for follow ups and post treatment care.
He has a very efficient Secretary and other staff, who really cares for the patient and their family members for the formalities & procedures of the Fortis Escort & Insurance, Medi claims, alternate accomodations etc and supports and provides comfort to the family of the patient.
We really admire and appreciate Dr Chandra, his team and Fortis Escort, Okhla Road New Delhi for their expert, professional and friendly treatment.

Made me feel at ease completely the moment we met. He exudes confidence and friendliness. I being 79 years or age wasn't sure what to expect when I went to him with 222/115 BP levels. I had to be admitted for 1 night under his Supervision. Next day my BP was almost normal. I met him again the next day and he diagnosed that the surge in my BP was due to other underlying conditions. **** **** ** ********* **** ***** **** *** ** *********** I know it's relatively early to dance the happy dance, but I feel good. Thanks Dr Chandra.
