We first consulted Dr. Salil Yadav at Manipal Hospital regarding my wife’s gallbladder stones. He suggested surgery, and we agreed since the stones had been diagnosed a year earlier. When I asked about expenses, he quoted ₹1.3 lakh for laparoscopic surgery and ₹1.9 lakh for robotic surgery, including everything.

I clearly told him that I didn’t care whether it was laparoscopic or robotic — whichever was covered under my corporate insurance should be done. I also stated that I would not pay anything extra apart from standard non‑medical items. He asked for documents (policy papers, Aadhaar, PAN), which we provided.

Two days later, his team member Rajat informed us that approval was obtained for robotic surgery, with a pre‑approval of ₹1.39 lakh. He also said robotic surgery was covered under my policy with 50% coverage of the total sum insured (₹2.5 lakh).
