Dr. Mandakini Sondhi (Physiotherapist)

* ************ ****** ** ******* ******** *** *** ********* ** *** ** *** **** *************** *** **** **** ********** * **** ****I was referred to her by Dr Hemant Sharma (W Pratiksha Hospital) after my knee cap dislocation for rehab. Before this injury, I was also suffering from severe upper back and lower back pain which would not allow me to sit straight even for 5 minutes. I am just 30 years and had spent 10 years on desk job. Excessive sitting has done all wrong to my body and what not went wrong after my child birth.

I consulted Dr Mandakini for my pelvis instability issue during my pregnancy. I visited her in my 2nd month of pregnancy. I had unbearable pelvis and groin pain throughout my pregnancy. Pains made it difficult to sleep, turn sides on the bed, walk or even stand. She understood my concern and helped me with the exercises that not only made me deal with my pain better but also improve my muscle strength. Throughout the session she would explain what each exercise was meant to do. We altered the exercises based on my pain threshold and my pregnancy weeks. She was always available at any given point to address any emergency. We continued with our exercises till my 40th week. She also taught me breathing techniques which i did through the different stages of pregnancy including the ones which I was supposed to do during labor. She encouraged me to work out and believed that I could have a normal delivery, which I did :)

My obgyn Dr. Ragini Agarwal recommended Dr Mandakini for physiotherapy during my pregnancy. I was regularly doing yoga before pregnancy but I was under the misconception that exercises should not be done during pregnancy. I took 20 sessions with Dr. Mandakini starting 19th week and they made a whole lot of difference for me. My complete pregnancy was a breeze. She gives personalised training and is very attentive and encouraging throughout the session. Her exercises helped me have a relatively easy labor and a normal delivery. Weight gain was controlled and I was working till last day of my pregnancy. Even after child birth, her lactation consult helped make breastfeeding easy and bearable. Her session inspired me to keep breastfeeding as I knew the advantages and techniques to ward off the pain. Thanks to her I knew that pain isn't normal during breastfeeding. Now, I am taking post natal exercises sessions from her for disastis recti and I have started feeling the difference already. Thanks doc!
