Dr Debashish Chanda is a brilliant orthopaedic surgeon working in an equally outstanding CK Birla Hospital Gurgaon.
The search for selecting the best orthopaedic surgeon started last year when my wife was diagnosed with Right knee osteo arthritis requiring a knee replacement surgery.
Multiple aspirations to drain out fluid from right knee joint followed by Injections like Keno cart and Synvisc-one did not help for long as the pain aggravated and normal walking became excruciating.
The first thing to search for probable list of orthopaedic surgeons in Delhi-NCR started with looking for Google reviews (both good and bad ones) of top-rated orthopaedics.
This was followed by physical consultations with few of them. In most of the cases, these top Orthopaedic surgeons of Delhi-NCR did not physically examine the knee joint and instead had a look at X ray to arrive at the diagnosis.
Out of the short-listed doctors, the final selection of orthopaedic surgeon was made after having actually talked to some of the patients (and their close relatives) who had undergone knee replacement surgery. This we found was very crucial aspect in establishing the trust and confidence in the doctor as we had come across cases where the junior of the main doctor had performed the surgery in the name of main doctor or where the surgery had led to post operative complications.
After thorough research and intelligence gathering, we zeroed in on
Dr Debashish Chanda, Head of Orthopaedic dept., CK Birla Hospital Gurugram.
In our first consultation with Dr Debashish in mid-June 25, the doctor physically examined the joint, then looked at the X rays and advised right knee replacement at the earliest to minimise the impact on the left knee. The doctor was humble, patient, soft spoken and answered all our queries and concerns about the operation. It was at that time that we decided to get the Robotic knee replacement done without further loss of time.
The Robotic knee replacement surgery was performed in the first week of July 25. At the end of surgery, we were given a video clip of the operation in which Dr Debashish is seen performing the operation. The surgery went very well. The hospital stay was for two days and on third day, the patient was discharged, fit enough to walk with the help of walker.
Dr Debashish Chanda also planned the post operative care meticulously by forming a dedicated WhatsApp group consisting of the patient, the doctor himself, the physio, the dressing assistant and the secretary of the doctor- Ms Mong(coordinator).
CK Birla Hospital Gurgaon is a top-rated tertiary care hospital in Gurgaon with state of art equipment. They did a commendable job and really looked after my wife very well, be it nursing staff, the housekeeping, the dietician or the physiotherapists. Ms Mong has been very helpful in promptly relaying the patient’s health information to the doctor and getting his response back to patient.
When we returned home, over the next ten days, we kept Dr Chanda constantly updated through WhatsApp on the progress of the patient and posted the photos of the operated knee joint. The response/advice from Dr Chanda kept on coming promptly. The doctor took personal care in the progress of the patient, be it pain management, the mild post operative fever or the post operative dark purple marks around surgery area and ankles. He assured us that it was a natural process of post operative surgery which will heal of its own.
When we posted pictures in WhatsApp group about the oozing of fluid from the dressing area, Dr Debashish insisted on seeing the patient again. He opened the dressing and did the redressing of the stitched wound with his own hands. He assured us that wound was healing properly which gave us a sigh of relief
After a fortnight, we went to him again for removal of stitches which he did and declared that the patient can walk straight, do household chores in the kitchen etc without the need of either a walker or walking stick.
The recovery has been without any post operative complication, solely due to the personal attention and care that Dr Debashish Chanda extended to us. I understand that this is his standard practice with all his patients. I am told that apart from performing Orthopaedic reconstructive surgeries, Dr Chada also specialises is revision surgery of those cases where the earlier surgery from elsewhere has not been successful.
I have no hesitation in saying (without any influence from any source) that Dr Debashish Chanda is an exceptionally competent and a trust worthy orthopaedic surgeon to whom you can blindly go for knee replacement surgery (or any bone related issue) *** **** ******* **** *** **** ** ** ***** ****** **** ******* ***** ** ** ********* ****** **** ********* *** ******** ******** ** ** ****. The quality of life has improved remarkably. Being a senior citizen, I can only give my blessings to the doctor for all that he has done for us.
