Dr Amit Verma began his journey in the medical path at the S.M.S. Medical College, Jaipur, Rajasthan where he pursued his M.B.B.S in 1995. Afterwards he went to do M.D. at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, India in 2002 where he specialized in Cancer Medicine at the department of Biochemistry, for which he was awarded a prestigious Geeta Mittal Gold Medal.His path did not end there. He then went on to pursue his fellowship at the esteemed University of Texas, MD Anderson Cancer Center, USA, where he was specially trained in the field of Experimental Therapeutics.In Cancer Medicine under the guidance of Professor Dr Kapil Mehta who is known for his pioneering work on Drug resistance and Cancer Metastasis; and Targeted Drug Delivery. Dr Mehta is known for his invention of Abelcet (Liposomal amphotercin B) which across the globe is used to treat fungal infection especially in cancer patients. At this very place is where Dr Verma followed his soul interest of contributing towards newer cancer treatment which led him to find a novel treatment for Pancreatic cancer for which he holds a USA Patent entitled “Methods For Treating Cancer Targeting Transglutaminase” which has gained fame and recognition.Followed by this, he was awarded the prestigious Ramalingaswamy Fellowship by the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India to recognize his valuable contributions towards the field of cancer.With the kind of expertise he accumulated during his course of academic years with the upcoming medical challenges in cancer treatment, he started his career as the first Molecular Oncologist in Delhi/NCR working as a Senior Consultant at the Fortis Hospital, Delhi. Since then he has been consulting at various renowned medical facilitators like Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, New Delhi and HCG- Bangalore.His passion and vision towards the field of cancer has made him establish two important Cancer Genetics Clinics namely “Personalized Medicine Clinic” and “Familial Cancer Clinic”, which is one of its kinds in India. Having a sound background in Clinical and Molecular Cancer Medicine makes him a truly unique physician of the medical fraternity.Currently, Dr Amit practices all the Max Hospitals across Delhi/NCR. Apart from his consultations, he is also a Medical Advisor to some of India’s leading Molecular Diagnostic companies like Positive Bioscience, Strand Life Science, Datar Genetics, MolQ Laboratory where he has significantly contributed towards the birth of newer molecular technologies like RNA Sequencing, MammaPrint, Telomere Length to name a few. He is one of the founding member of various scientific societies such as the Molecular Oncology Society.Dr Amit is a positively spirited person who loves to spread awareness of cancer genetics among the under privileged population and the younger generation where he strongly believes that cancer is preventable, provided appropriate actions are taken in a timely fashion
