He is good doctor who listens his patient very carefully,and advise them in a very explanatory way..

My father received treatment under Dr Ankur Bahl at Max Hospital (Saket) for relapse of multiple myeloma until his demise. I and my family were deeply disappointed by the level of care and treatment that my father received both by Dr Ankur and at Max Hospital. I would also mention that when my father first developed myeloma we received treatment ** ***** ****** ****** ******** *** ** **** **** ******* **** *** ***** ** ***** *** ************ ** *** ******* *** *** ******* *********** A few examples of dissatisfaction with Dr Ankur and Max Hospital are enlisted below:

** **** ********* * 2. my father was suffering from severe cough during the course of his chemotherapy, however Mr. Bahl not once checked the patient’s throat / chest over the following weeks. *** ***** ****** *** **** *** ***** *** **** ******** ************* The patient then again complained about this to the junior doctor and himself suggested that this may be a symptom of pneumonia. Following this the doctor ordered a chest x-ray which confirmed the presence of pneumonia. *** **** ** ***** **** ******* ** *** ****** ** ***** *** ********** ***** ** *** ******** ********** *** * **** **** ********* ******* ** ***** **** ********* ********* ***** ** *** * **** ****** ****** ***** **** **** ***** ** *** ** ***** ********

2. Callous behaviour: During one of the chemotheraphy sessions while receiving chemotherapy treatment, my father developed strong shivering. When the nurse was requested to check the fever, she suggested that this was due to the cold air-conditioning (total lack of commitment to patient care). When pushed again, the nurse checked the fever which was 102.5 degrees F. Despite the very high fever for a patient with a weakened immune system, the patient was discharged from hospital care without administering any medicines and without checking for the underlying cause of the high fever. The simple suggestion was to take a crocin, ***** **** * ****** **** *** ****** ***** **** ** **** ******** Despite the very high fever the discharge record states “patient tolerated well to the above given treatment and is being discharged in a stable condition”. *** ******** ***** *** **** ********** * ** * ****** ****** *********** *** ******** ****** *********

** **** ** ******** *** ************* ** ********* ******* My father's chemotherapy commenced at Max Hospital. By 2nd cycle d8 dose my father reported significant weakness and difficulty in standing and sitting down. My father got unconscious couple of times in this period. Given the patient’s persistence to reduce the dosage, Dr.Bahl agreed that the treatment will be changed to a weekly treatment from 7th September. However, despite this change the patient continued to become more and more fragile and it was decided to give supportive care on the 10th dose . Given the continuous deterioration in health, my father proactively got a blood test done for Beta 2 – macroglobulin and presented the results to Dr.Bahl. Dr.Bahl rejected the test result as being meaningless ** ** ***** *** ********* **** ****** **** *** ********** ****** Despite the patient fragility, there was no suggestion from the doctor ** ******* ** ********* **** ***** ** ***** * ****** ** ******** *** ******** **** ** ***** *** ******** Despite the one week supportive care, my father remained extremely weak and confined to wheel chair and he was forced to indicate to Dr.Bahl that he could not carry on with chemo like this for 4 cycles and it would be better to get further tests done after the 3rd cycle. Despite that Dr.Bahl recommended to recommence the 10th chemo dose ******** *** ********* ** *** ******* and this continued with the 11th dose and with 12th dose. During this period my father's condition ********* ** ******* he was totally unable to walk, became extremely weak, was diagnosed with pneumonia, had fever as high as 102.5 degrees, had non-stop fever for more than three weeks, had one day of debilitating diarrhoea, however despite all that there was no suggestion from the doctor at any point in time to stop the treatment given the patient fragility or to even conduct tests to determine whether any more chemo was even required or not. ******* ** *** ***** * ****** ***** *** **** ********* ***** *** ** **** **** ** *** **** ***** **** *** ******* *** ***** ******* *** *** **** ******* *** ******* **** ****** ** ******* ******* ****** *** ******** ****** *** *********** ***** **** ***** *** ******* *** ****** *** ***** ******* ****** **** ** ******** ** ********** *** ********* ** *** ******* ******* *** *** **********

4. Below par information management at Day Care: The information management by support staff at the Day Care admission is below par. The team simply copy pastes the previous admission report and hands it over to the patient by making changes to just 1-2 medicines changes. The weight, blood pressure, fever, facts like the patient has Pneumonia never make it to report. Remarkably, we were handed over the same exact discharge report as the one provided on the last visit even without changing the dates. **** ***** **** ********* ******** * An emergency call was placed by my mother to Max Hospital Saket, alerting them to my father being unconscious and requesting an ambulance straight away. When no ambulance arrived for several minutes my brother again called Max Hospital, following which an ambulance was dispatched to our residence around 30 minutes after my mother's call (this timing is confirmed on the report provided by the first responder). This is an unacceptable delay in providing emergency service in any part of the world let aside in the capital city of India.

Overall a very disappointing experience ** * ******** *********** *********

I will never recommend anyone to Mr. Ankur Bahl. ***** ******** ** **** * *** ****** * ********* *****My father is diagnosed with initial stage of cancer and someone asked me to consult to Mr. Ankur. He did not even talk with us politely and his behaviour was very rude. He did not answer of any question and could not convince with his treatment. Being a doctor, he should be polite. Other things come into picture after that.
