There are times when patients reveal secrets, worries and fears to physicians that they have not yet disclosed to friends or family. It is vital that a patient feels she/he has been heard and allowed to express her/his major concerns. It is not about how much time is spent together, but the perception of the patient that she/he has been heard accurately.
