Your symptoms are suggestive of a strep throat development. Bacteria cause strep throat, and symptoms include irritation, redness, and sometimes the build-up of pus in the back of the throat. The bacteria that cause strep throat are group A Streptococcus. These bacteria are commonly transmitted by contact with an infected person or by breathing in the droplets of an infected person. The strep throat bacteria most often live in a person's nose and throat. You will require antibiotics and antacids to control the situation. These following steps may help: - Drink lukewarm drinks (Aim to drink 3 liters of water per day) - Eat soft foods as it may be hard to swallow very hard food. - Adults can gargle with salt water thrice a day with lukewarm water - Avoid smoking and second-hand smoke - Suck lozenges or hard candy If the condition persists or worsens visit the ER at the earliest.
