Hello Doctors, I got my wisdom tooth on lower jaw surgically extracted on 5th of this month, after 8 days got stitches removed too, doctor said it's healing but would take time , today I feel pain inside my ear after stitch removal, not extreme but a pinch every now and then... Is this normal? Today is the 10th day of my removal..I am not eating very spicy, solid foods till now, and doing salt water rinses too..Jaw opening is fine.. Kindly advise if this is normal.

Hello. Hope you are doing well.
The pain that you are feeling in your ear is most likely due to 2 reasons:-
1) Referred pain from the extraction area. In this case, the pain will subside on its own as and when the socket heals completely.
2) It can be due to pain originating from the TMJ (Temporomandibular Joint) over that side which usually arises due to aggravation of hidden Temporomandibular Disorder owing to keeping your mouth open for prolonged duration of time during the surgical extraction. In such case, you need to also be aware of other symptoms like clicking or popping sounds over that side while opening or closing your mouth or feeling of restricted mouth opening sometimes. In that case, it will be best to consult with your dentist for any symptoms regarding Temporomandibular Disorder as the course of treatment is different for that.
