You can go for surgery if you want but you haven't mention about the site of involvement as some areas are resistant to both medical and surgical treatment. Apart from some pigmentory irregularities in some there is usually no side effect in properly done surgeries. There are various procedure available for the treatment they depend on the site and size of the lesion so first get yourself assed by some good dermatologist s who is doin vitiligo surgeries also.
